Local port failure on server start

Post by grayscale »

Hi. I get this on server start:
[20160824 17:49:01] 2 domain(s) allowed...
[#1] [20160824 17:49:01] Starting domain - localCore (#1)...
[#1] [20160824 17:49:01] The socket binding to local port failed. (port 21)
[#1] [20160824 17:49:01] localCore active...

I used Teamviewer from my sister's computer connected to my home machine. I downloaded, installed, and started the server on the home machine. Then I ran the Core ftp client locally on my sister's machine and connected to the server on my home machine.

Welcome to Core FTP, release ver 2.2, build 1879 (x86.U) -- © 2003-2016

Connect socket #548 to <my ip>, port 21...

I see local directories on the lower left client pane, but nothing in the lower right remote directories pane.

What can I do to get this working?

This usually means something else is already running on the port, or you don't have permission to do so ("run as admin").

Use "localhost" if you don't know the IP/hostname of the local computer.
