saving site information for a re-install of Coreftp

Post by guaranteed »

I have had to re-install Win XP several times and then re-install Coreftp but have not figured out away to save the site setup information and move it to a new install. Is there a way to do this? Love the product.

Problems importing saved CoreFTP settings

Post by jdeaver »

Since I was rebuilding my PC and upgrading OS, I exported my CoreFTP settings as recommended. However, after upgrading my OS and reinstalling CoreFTP, I cannot get the import to bring my site date back into the program. Every time I try, it does nothing. (I am right-clicking in the index area and selecting "import" and "CoreFTP". I even viewed the file and it appeared to have the specs on each site, including the encrypted password. Any suggestions? Is there a default file I can just replace with the backup one? I am using version 2.1, build 1575, which I believe is the latest. Not sure if I was using that version before, but it was pretty recent. Running Vista 64-bit on an Athlon 64 3200+. Thanks.

How I got it to work

Post by DavidY »

I had this problem when upgrading from XP Pro to Windows 7, where I would import the exported file but nothing happened.

I had originally exported the file to the XP system drive. My Windows 7 drive is on another drive, and treats the XP system drive as drive D:, but a protected drive D:.

As a test, I tried to export from CoreFTP in Windows 7 to drive D.: and got a permissions error.

So I copied the exported file to another drive, one that had no system on it.

I was able to import all of my sites. So perhaps CoreFTP needs some kind of write access to the exported file in order to import it?
