Went back to basics and upgraded the router firmware - BINGO ! Its all working OK now. Thanx for all suggestions.

Thanks for the quick reply and by the way thanks for the forum which has already been useful in helping me get a second PC working with some good advice. The problem is the same on different PC's so I guess that discounts them. I have firewall and connect through a router . Ive only tried one server...
